Measuring bump steer is an absolute necessity for dialing in the handling of a race car. Typically, a bump steer gauge plate bolts directly to the hub using the tapped holes meant for the dust cover. However, many high-end racing hubs—such as Wilwood Starlite or specific Wide-5 setups—are machined perfectly smooth and lack these mounting holes, making it impossible to attach standard setup tools.
The Longacre 79121 Hub Mounting Stand-Offs are the purpose-built workaround. Designed as a “snap-in” retrofit kit, these billet aluminum stand-offs either thread directly onto massive 5/8″ coarse racing wheel studs or snap into the center cap area (depending on the exact hub configuration). They create a rock-solid, perfectly parallel mounting foundation for the bump steer plate, allowing chassis builders to get dead-accurate suspension geometry readings without having to modify their expensive hubs.
