Factory Fit engine harnesses adhere to the original General Motors specifications, ensuring authenticity and reliability. Designed to plug into the firewall at the factory location, this harness follows the authentic routing within the engine compartment of your early GM vehicle.
Primarily serving as the amalgamation of the engine and front light harness, this component efficiently manages various functions under the hood. Specifically modified for a 12-volt HEI ignition system, it replaces the original resistor wire with a standard 12-volt feed. Additionally, it incorporates a connector tailored for a GM large-cap distributor. If your setup does not involve a GM large-cap HEI distributor, you may need to replace the connector end to ensure compatibility with your system.
It’s important to note that certain Pontiac models may have resistance wiring integrated into the dash harness, potentially impacting the availability of HEI part numbers.
Engine harness designs exhibit notable variations from year to year. While most include wiring for the ignition system, starter, heater blower, and temperature/oil pressure sender wires (if applicable), some vehicles utilized capillary tubes for oil pressure readings, which are not encompassed in a standard wiring harness.
